“Only those that risk going to far can possibly find out how far one can go.” –T.S. Eliot

Old Hamrick House

The old Fred Hamrick house in Rutherfordton, NC. In its day, this was the epitome of a southern mansion. The trees have been removed but it still has the gorgeous view overlooking the Appalachian Mountains. The family patriarch was a successful attorney in town. The daughter was a commercial pilot for Piedmont Airlines (now American). She was one of a few, early female commercial pilots in America; unusual in the late 1970's. The son was a commercial realtor in Charleston.
