We are big dog lovers at the Endless Journey, so while pictures of dogs are not an integral part of travel, they are essential to who we are. We’ll introduce you to our dogs and some of the crazy things they do to bring us joy. They’re part of our families, and since this is a community, we want you to get to know them in addition to us. In many cases, they’re an extension of our personalities!
If you have a cherished canine you want us to feature, please send us pictures and a short write-up about them that includes their name, breed, and a little about their personality; we’ll gladly add them to our site.
We are also big supporters of the ASPCA, so please add any information about your local shelters or work you do with the group.
So let me introduce you to Charlie. Charlie is a 14-year-old King Charles Cavalier. He’s been with us through some tough times and is unquestionably an angel sent from heaven. During some of our darkest times, he sat beside us for hours on end never once moving until he decided it was ok to leave us.
He’s calm, loving, and deeply set in his ways. When he was young, we were getting ready to go on vacation to the beach and had him ready to be boarded for the week, but when the time came for us to leave, we couldn’t drive off without him. That was about 13 years ago, and he’s been with us on our yearly beach trip ever since. When we travel by plane, we have a sitter stay at the house with him.
When we first got Charlie, I was adamant that he wouldn’t sleep in the bed with us, but that only lasted about 3-4 days. He now gets to pick his spot, and my wife and I take the leftovers. I must say it’s hilarious to wake up, and his head is on the pillow beside us.
Charlie rules the house. We’re here at his pleasure and to attend to his every need. I wouldn’t have it any other way.
